Ok so a round up if you will of this past week, went to New York twice, good times. I met with Archetype Showroom i:e Audrey and Cory talked about my possibilities in moving up there and heard some good things can't wait to see what happens. I was supposed to meet with Ksubi to see the full collection of SS08 but Purdom headed back to LA early, sucks. Ran into the infamous Chris Black right in the middle of the little Italian festival on Mulberry, good seeing him. Headed back shortly after all that. I'm so broke that the only things I bought in two days in New York are two Uniqlo v-necks and a copy of Jalouse. Oh well off to DC later today on the fucking awful Chinatown Bus oh well.

New York Today

Fucking tourists shots! Hey look mom Wash. Sq!

Long day good day. I took only a few digital shots today but got some good film shots with an old Canon TX I will process them and scan them by the end of the week. Picked up a couple basic Uniqlo Vneck tee shirts and went around to Seven NYC, Odin, Blue & Green, Nom de Guerre, and other places, but I'm broke so oh well. Odin was nice met a dude named Thomas there super cool talked for awhile about Robert Geller's SS08 collection amongst other things. Tired now and am headed back up to the city later this week to meet with Ksubi for SS08 orders, should be good times, I'm looking forward to it.

Jesus Camp

I just watched this film, terrifying. Evangliciasm they are just such misinformed people polluting many young kids across the mid west, teaching fear and scaring them into their believes. The arrogance of those involved in this movement is stomach turning, I can not believe the crap they preach to those poor children. Holy crap I hate them. Also they speak of how if they all vote they will always control the elections, so go out and vote please vote, anything to stop these people.

FUCK.

Fourth Of July

No pictures again today, I don't have the camera oh well. So its been absolutely beautiful outside everyday for about a week and now its cloudly and cool out. I'm bored and I do not feel like doing work I should probably be working on, such as our Deep Sleep advertisements for 2one5's online magazine. Maybe I will be motivated in a little bit. Superfuture has gotten quite hostile in the past week hopefully that shit will calm down a bit granted it can be very entertaining. I guess thats its for now, I'm listening to Battles again I love it so weird, its unsettling.

Sunday, July 1, 2007

Wow

Its beautiful outside.

I have a lot of work to do today, I need to work on 3 different animated advertisments for the store. I also would ideally like to shoot some photos of the shoes and denim to make available for online sales, we'll see.

Again its super nice outside, hopefully I'll close a little early and get some time outside.

Righteo

I've had two bad days, nothing really bad has happened at all, they have just been bad days. I'm not completely sure why but it just has overall not been very fun these days. Perhaps it's the oppressive heat, or something I just can't put my finger on it. Hell I haven't been creative in entirely too long and I haven't even listened to much music at all. I just do not feel right or well today or yesterday, I think my sleep from last night plays a part in todays sentiment.

Fuck.

Hell I even forgot to post a waywt. I will do it shortly.

2:43am...

and I can not sleep, I do not know why, its truly depressing. I wish I had something worthwhile to say but I realize I have never said anything worthwhile in this blog, oh well. I am not feeling particularly motivated at this time for some reason, I have not drawn nor worked in Illustrator in well over a week now. I've hit some sort of brick wall it sucks. I do not know of any better way of explaining how I feel right now.

Maybe I will fall asleep soon, by the way this entry has taken me just over two minutes to complete.

I keep hearing the new Interpol is good, I like some of their stuff but never wanted to be an Interpol fan for some reason, I dunno I might have to check it out.

Barney's Being Sold

" Istithmar Makes Deal to Buy Barneys for $825M
BY VICKI M. YOUNG
June 25, 2007

NEW YORK — Jones Apparel Group Inc. on Friday finally made public what Wall Street knew all week, that it was selling its wholly-owned subsidiary Barneys New York Inc. for $825 million in cash, subject to purchase price adjustments, to an affiliate of Istithmar, a Dubai-based private equity investment house, in a deal that will close in the third quarter.

Jones is also looking at the possibility of using some of the proceeds in the form of a “significant return of capital to shareholders,” according to Peter Boneparth, president and CEO of Jones, in a conference call to Wall Street analysts Friday afternoon.

Boneparth thanked the contribution of Barneys’ employees and its management team under Howard Socol. Looking at how well the company has done since Jones acquired it in 2004 for $397.5 million till the present is a “testament to their capabilities,” the CEO said. The company will have a net gain from the sale of Barneys of approximately $290.0 million. Due to certain tax benefits, Boneparth said that the company will have net cash proceeds after taxes and transaction expenses of approximately $770.0 million.

“We see in Barneys a very nice growth asset. From our perspective...the asset required more capital investment to grow, [with the] operating margin not likely to approach [that of] our wholesale business as we go forward,” Boneparth said.

After exiting some moderate businesses and divesting itself of the luxury arena, Jones will be left with “where we started,” and the sale of Barneys will give the apparel giant additional financial flexibility to continue investing in its power legacy brands, Boneparth explained to Wall Street analysts. He emphasized that the choices the company has made has been been with the focus on doing everything to return capital to shareholders.

“We didn’t buy [Barneys] with the intent to sell it, but this is a great opportunity for shareholder return,” Boneparth said.

Under the terms of the purchase agreement, Jones can consider unsolicited proposals from third parties to acquire Barneys, but such proposal would have to be made by July 22, 2007 and all due diligence and negotiations with a third party would have to be completed by August 11, 2007. The purchase agreement also allows Jones to consider proposals from third parties to acquire all of Jones, which would include Barneys. Jones said that under this circumstance, due diligence and negotiations would also have to be completed by August 11, 2007.

Should either scenario come up, Jones said it would be required to pay a termination fee prior to terminating its agreement with Istithmar, which would be $20.6 million if Jones terminates the Istithmar agreement on or prior to July 22, 2007 and $22.7 million if Jones terminates after July 22, 2007.

Executives at Istithmar could not be reached for comment.

Marc Cooper, a managing director at investment banking firm Peter J. Solomon Co, which was the financial advisor to Istithmar, said, “Istithmar has been a client of ours for some time. We worked with them in acquiring Loehmann’s. Istithmar has a keen interest in retail and loves the luxury space. They
bought Loehmann’s because it is discount luxury.”

He said that Howard Socol, CEO of Barneys, will stay on, as will his
management team.

Cooper said that when Jones Apparel Group was up for sale last year, Istithmar had then expressed an interest in acquiring Barneys, but that Jones was not interested at the time in selling individual assets. The parties continued discussions on and off, with Istithmar expressing its interest in acquiring Barneys, Cooper said. "
