Soooo Tired
A long long weekend. Went to DC, went to Frederick, went to Ocean City and Bethany Beach, then back to Frederick, then back to DC, then back to Philly, then to Valley Forge, then back to Philly. Holy crap. Not too mention NYC on Tuesday. Fucking burnt out.

MHI/Maharishi SS08
Our last stop of the day was MHI/Maharishi in their showroom/livingspace. We met David and Joe there and shot the shit for a while before getting down to business. MHI's spring was very impressive, again I will say it looked and felt much more mature. Great clean windbreakers, very nice button ups as well as some very well done print tees. I look forward to it this coming spring.

United Tradeshow Review
Well what is there for me to say about United...I felt it to be pretty poorly executed, but then again I do not go for very much in the streetwear scene. I did however run into some friendly faces from both Kickballers DC, and Commonwealth DC.
I viewed and wrote Hellz Bellz Holiday for Deep Sleep and I must say I was impressed by the direction of the line and the quality. Everything was looking much better much more mature, and the cut and sew pieces were of good quality as well, nicely done ladies. After that there was not much more to check out that was of interested to me there.

Capsule In Review
Yesterday were the tradeshows, unfortunately I had to miss out on Project but that's life and Capsule was awesome.
CAPSULE
A brand new show being run by the group BPMW and it was a great show, amazing location and great brands. Here is some info on some of the spring lines sorry about the lack of pictures I forgot the camera.
Ksubi The amazing print tees continue to excel and the denim is amazing for spring, everything from super clean raw to completely 80's style skinny torn up skate style denim. Ksubi is killing it, their sunglasses also were amazing. I would say Ksubi had a very strong showing their spring season is going to be absurd.
Julian Red JR brought in the cavalry showing some super clean variations on their staple denim, California black raw in a super light weight, I estimate 9oz selvage denim. Some very clean washes as well and some great collection pieces. The clean button ups were complemented by the amazing Munki hoodie which is quick becoming a staple for Julian Red as well as the abstract tee prints.
Wrath Arcane The hoodies and jackets did it for me, especially the light weight inside out jersey pull over hoodie, and the cardigan. They had a couple jackets that really caught my eye as well with great attention to detailing in all their pieces, the jackets are a real great showcase for them.
Freemont showed a small selection for this show, but what was there was very nice clean drappier pieces every being very lightweight for spring. Great construction on everything from them of course.
Orthodox A line I did not know very much about but took a quick liking to once I was shown it, very strong collection complemented by amazing Pima cotton unique print tees. A very accessible collection I must say, something I look forward to seeing more of.
Kicking Mule Workshop Barbara and her crew at KMW are expanding rapidly showing cinch back workman style models, mud dyed (ala sugarcane okinawa) 1950s, and railroad style striped denim. KMW also debuted some tee shirts and hoodies made of very nice cotton, they are really looking at very nice vintage authentic feel for spring.
Pharmacy Industries This Italian line came out and showed "only 30%" of their entire collection, but it was strong granted very hit or miss. Pharmacy had some amazing hoodies and polos but some of their embroidery and other techniques used on some of their pieces was not necessary and I felt took away from their very strong pieces. All in all I would like to see more from Pharmacy.
Staple Is moving into more cut and sew and that is a good thing. Staple's cut and sew pieces are truly their best as I feel their tee shirt prints have steadily gone down hill. Several jackets including a great M65 style were my favorites from them.
WoodWood Some cool print tee stuff as well as some nice jackets didn't get too much of a feel for it but still very solid from what I saw.
Umbro By Kim Jones Again I did not take too much of a look but I did see several very nice sneakers and several nice sweaters.
Social Atlier Kept it relativly simple but still very strong, they do what they do well. Good block letter printed tees/vnecks/tanks. I dug it.
Well thats all I can remember right now I will add more later on, I am sorry for the sub-par writing I am tired and out of it from the long day yesterday and lack of sleep.

Trade Show Schedule

Next week the tradeshows and fashion industry takes over New York for 3 days, July 22-24. Project is the biggest and badest of them all with some favorites of mine such as:
Andy Warhol By Levi's
Imperial Denim
J. Lindeberg
WESC
and many more.
Second there is Capsule a new upstart show that is gaining some high profile lines such as:
Freemont
Julian Red
Kicking Mule Workshop
Ksubi
Umbro By Kim Jones
Wood Wood
Wrath Arcane
as well as many more too.
United is the smallest of the shows that will be happening, I'll try to make it through if time permits. United focus is on the smaller lines out there as well as incorporating the music lifestyle, lines showing there include:
Bijules NYC
Evil Genius
Hellz Bellz
Steven Shein
and more.
Look for me there if you're not there I'll try and report back about the SS08 lines showing.

Stolen Girlfriends Club

A great line out of New Zealand, it is quickly becoming one my favorites. Their looks for AW07-08 are amazing, solid from start to finish a fantastic line for people to check out, it is not yet available too much outside of NZ or Australia but that will change over the next few seasons.

Epic Riffs

After taking a picture and uploading it I don't know how much I like it, it will be run through Illustrator for a while and made into a design for a tee shirt. We will see.

Barney's Again
Ok so like a week ago maybe further back I posted about the potential buyout of Barney's NY, well its now a bidding war. Barney's NY was set to be purchased by Istithmar an equity firm based out of Dubai for $825 million. That offer has been counted by Tokyo based Fast Retailing Co. who have placed a $900 million offer on the table. We shall see who wins the war for the exclusive high end retailer.

Fourth Of July
No pictures again today, I don't have the camera oh well. So its been absolutely beautiful outside everyday for about a week and now its cloudly and cool out. I'm bored and I do not feel like doing work I should probably be working on, such as our Deep Sleep advertisements for 2one5's online magazine. Maybe I will be motivated in a little bit. Superfuture has gotten quite hostile in the past week hopefully that shit will calm down a bit granted it can be very entertaining. I guess thats its for now, I'm listening to Battles again I love it so weird, its unsettling.

Wow
Its beautiful outside.
I have a lot of work to do today, I need to work on 3 different animated advertisments for the store. I also would ideally like to shoot some photos of the shoes and denim to make available for online sales, we'll see.
Again its super nice outside, hopefully I'll close a little early and get some time outside.
